Our foundation

Viktor Balzer and Dr. Lars Rüther founded skinmade GmbH in 2018 as a spin-off of the Fraunhofer Institute for Production Engineering and Automation (IPA). Viktor Balzer worked as a scientist at Fraunhofer IPA from 2013 to 2019 with a research focus on “Manufacture of personalized products in the process industry”. The Fraunhofer Institute is the largest research organization for application-oriented research in Europe. The research fields are based on people's needs: health, safety, communication, mobility, energy and the environment. The institute is creative, designs technology, designs products and designs processes that open up new paths.

The idea

When the two met for the first time in 2014, production and engineering know-how (Viktor Balzer) met dermopharmaceutical knowledge (Dr. Lars Rüther) - and the idea of ​​skinmade as personalized facial care was born.

Proven quality

Dr. Lars Rüther is a molecular biologist and has worked as laboratory and research manager at Dermatest since 2013. Since then, he has dealt with the challenges and needs of the skin every day. Dermatest is an independent dermatological testing institute from Münster, TÜV and ISO certified, as well as the world's only accredited institute for patch testing and a nationally known quality seal. The philosophy of the institute is to examine cosmetic products dermatologically and scientifically and to make their use safer and more comparable.

People first

Together with their employees, both founders pursue the mission of offering personalized facial care with the highest level of effectiveness, free of unnecessary additives and harmful substances. The technology behind it (measurement and production) is constantly being developed. Today, the team is united by their passion for the unique product and their friendship with each other.
